The story so far
David Thompson's cheesetrolley.com (formerly Thompson & Waterman) makes fine, handcrafted dining trolleys for the most discerning clientele from its base in Sudbury, Suffolk.
The business was started in February 2012 by David Thompson, an established local restauranteur with nearly fifty years experience in catering and fine dining and a love of front of house.
Cheesetrolley.com has clients throughout the UK and as far afield as Hong Kong.
Customer service
Our trolleys can be made according to each customer's required specifications. David Thompson works closely with every client and manages every aspect of the manufacturing process from initial design to delivery. Costs can be agreed in advance based upon materials and bespoke design requirements. All trolleys are hand built by master craftsmen.
A business based on excellence
Our success is based solely on client satisfaction. As a small, highly individual business, we are able to work together with clients to produce something extraordinary; a trolley that is both supremely functional and a dazzling addition to the dining experience. It seems that even the most well-fed diners will not resist the lure of cheese when presented on the trolley. Regis Crepy of the Blue Fig in Bury St Edmunds claims to have increased his sales of cheese by 50% since introducing his David Thompson Cheese Trolley to his restaurant. The same theatrical lure applies to desserts, too.
We use only the finest sustainable materials and have no use for laminates.
I so wanted to build a piece of furniture that would last forever. I managed to get a meeting with Albert Roux and he was happy to support our future.
Our very first order came from Inverlochy Castle, Fort William, Scotland, via Monsieur Roux for a Cheese Trolley.(inverlocky scan) My wife and I delivered it in the back seat of our car. Our journey began there and David Thompson Cheese Trolleys began.
